The 12v Cummins, which internally is know as the 6BT has limitless performance when equipped with the P1700 mechanical injection pump. This engine is set apart because of the use of the shallow one-piece head and having engine bores machined directly into the block. The 5.9 engine uses a heater grid which is mounted beneath the air horn. This method is different then the standard glow plug system and aids in cold starting.
