Caterpillar 3116 is Used for Industrial and Over the Road Engines
The Caterpillar 3116 has a turbocharged diesel engine. This engine can be used alone or with another engine as it is compatible with many other Caterpillar industrial transmissions. Depending on what the intention of the boat is the transmission in the 3116 can either provide faster or slower speed. Whichever transmission is used will depend on the engines size and weight. The 3116 is capable of of 205 horsepower to 350 horsepower. The 3116 engine oil is 6.6 gallons with 7.4 gallons for the cooling system.
