Young and Sons Supplies:

At Young and Son’s we have added more services to better serve our customers. Outside of our mechanical shop, we provide customers with Dyno Testing. A dyno test is a device for measuring force, torque, or power. The power produced by an engine, motor or other rotating prime mover is calculated by measuring torque and rotational speed.

Dyno Testing’s purpose is to tune your vehicle’s engine so it provides a smoother, cost-effective ride. A dynamometer is a measuring tool that can help optimize the engine and find problems that could occur before they turn into larger issues. We can tune your engine for better drivability, fuel economy and power.

Not every dyno testing is the same, that is why you need to find a reliable shop to work on your engine. Ask around and also contact the company to ensure they are experts at their services. A good shop will have excellent referrals and customer service. We have an A+ rating on the Better Business Bureau and many of of customers are long term customers that we have had for years.

What issues is your engine having?

It is important to first pin point what issues your vehicle is having before you have a dyno test performed. First see if you have any major issues such as:

  • Poor gas mileage
  • Lack of power
  • Trouble with starting the vehicle in the heat or cold
  • Surging
  • Pinging

Engine Dyno Testing can be complex if not done by a professional. It is important to understand what will be performed when you have this dyno testing done.

Let your mechanic know of any issues that are concerning to you about your vehicle.

  • A visual inspection will take place
  • Engine compression is accessed
  • Spark plugs will be checked to learn the heat range
  • Distributor is removed to check for faults
  • Centrifugal advance rate and vacuum advance will be modified to improve the responsiveness and gas mileage
  • Your wheels will make contact with the dyno rollers
  • Engine is tested as well as the gears through a range of speeds and loads
  • Engine horsepower is checked
  • Performance of the carburetor is checked

If you’re looking to undertake dyno testing, tuning for your vehicle or just a professional opinion, contact Young and Sons. We are here to assist in all of your dyno testing needs.
