DIESEL ENGINES COMPANY
In 1945, John Young started J Young Motor Service in his garage on the southeast side of Indianapolis. During tough economic times, he gained a loyal client base with his commitment to quality and value. After 20 years of operating from the family garage, John rented a building in downtown Indianapolis and moved J Young Motor Service there. Within 2 years of the move downtown, John built his first building to meet the needs of his growing business. It was about 4000 square feet, more than 100 times larger than the garage he began in. Later that year, John renamed the business “Young and Sons” as his sons joined the family business and gained their own reputation as skilled Diesel Engine mechanics.
Today, what began as a small garage based business has grown to be an Indianapolis landmark. Young and Sons now operates multiple locations totaling over 60,000 square feet in shop and warehouse space, 25 employees, state of the art equipment, and customers around the world. Even with all that growth, some things never change. Young and Sons is still operated by the Young family with John’s sons and grandsons committed to the same principles that grew from years of hard work in a garage in southeast Indianapolis. Young and Sons is a major leader in Recon Diesel Engines, New Surplus Diesel Engines, Used Diesel Engines, and nearly any part you might need for any of them, because they have never forgotten that their most important asset is their customers.
